Shauna Arnaud

Hi there, students! I am a very experienced teacher--I have been teaching English as a Second Language since 1993; and have taught students at many different levels, from beginner to advanced. I have taught in Japan, Korea, and Vancouver, Canada. (I'm actually a Canadian, now living and working in America!) Currently, I teach part time at a community college in Edmonds, Washington. I've been working there since 2005. At the college, I teach immigrants and refugees on how to assimilate into American culture--how to become a better student (for those that want to continue on in an American college or university) as well as job searching skills. In the past I've taught Asian students who came to the country on student visas. In one school I worked at in Vancouver, Canada, I developed an ESL program for Taiwanese students and students from Hong Kong: I organized the classes and schedule, acquired all the materials and textbooks necessary, and then taught the students what they needed.
I've taught many skills in English, but I'd say my specialties are grammar, pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading and writing. In the past I've also taught idioms, TOEFL, and business English. I've tutored many students one on one--each class was student led, and tailored to what the student wanted to study. My students tell me I have excellent, clear, easy-to-understand pronunciation. I love every level of student: I am super patient with all my students (especially the beginner students) and I love conversing with and challenging my higher level students. I love my job and find it so rewarding--I can't wait to meet you and find out how I can help.
